I've been feverishly working to get my businesses streamlined, and the first step is complete! I have closed Sykin's NW Wonders, and renamed Sykin's One Stop Twilight Shop to Sykin.net Productions. I will no longer be selling jewelry on etsy (for the most part) so I'm having a HUGE clearance sale. I seriously need this stuff to go! Everything (yes, EVERYTHING) is 50% OFF through the end of July. Come August 1st, everything will be taken off the shop and will not be available again. So get it while you can! Please, pass on the word!

Come August 1st, the shop will be dedicated to graphic and web design templates, tutorials, and pre-made items. I'm super thrilled about this! I have been doing graphic design for 15 years. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication (specializing in Multimedia and Web Design) in 2004. My mission is to provide quality graphic design at insanely cheap prices. June Goals

It's that time of the month! The beginning. The best part. When I look at my blog and think "This is the month I start over and get back to the way things used to be!". So here I am - June 5th and doing a blog post about my goals for this month. So if you remember from last month, I set up these goals for myself:

Get blog set up on my website
Make 1 card per week
Make 1 new listing per week in each shop
Set up both shops to auto renew items through Etsy On Sale

Well, I can already tell you which goals I am taking off the list. I set up both of my shops on vacation mode for the month of June so I can get caught up. I need to catch up on photographing new items and fixing photos of old items. I need to streamline the look and feel of both of my shops and update them. So here's my new set of goals for the month of June.

Get blog set up on my website
Make 1 card per week
Photograph all items currently made

Given that I'll be on vacation quite a bit this month, I'm hoping I can achieve all of this. I need an incentive, I think, other than making money. What should my incentive be?

Well, I failed my goal for May already. It's the last day of May and I haven't written anything since my last post. Sorry about that, guys! I'm going to try to work on it, I promise! To make it up to you, I'm going to have a real feature/review today :) Back when I was pregnant with my daughter, I received a few comic books to entertain me and as a product review for my blog. My daughter is now almost 18 months old. Goes to show how far behind I am!!! Either way, I haven't forgotten and I'm posting my review now. I'm so sorry, Jim!

I featured jim8ball back on September 3, 2009. He makes these comics that are both funny but also filled with moral insight. I'm not sure if that was his intention, but...well...they are. At least the Samurai Cat ones I received :) Jim was so gracious as to send me "Tail of the Samurai Cat" no. 1 through 6, and his adult-themed "Beaver" comic...which is really hilarious.

Tail of the Samurai Cat is about a ninja cat set on vengeance for the death of his family. With witty and snarky dialog, and imaginative drawing - this comic is awesome! It's not currently available for sale on his etsy shop, but I'm sure you could get in touch with Jim and work something out.
Beaver is a hilarious book about a girl who has a pet beaver. The comic is entirely suggestive so you could probably get away with a young kid reading it - but I wouldn't suggest it. This is perfect for...say...16+. It looks like this one was sold just this weekend, so hopefully another goes up for you to browse :)

I highly recommend this growing artist. The comics are unique, well printed and you could easily find something for everyone. Let's get to know more about Jim and his comics!

So, Jim, tell me about yourself.

What would you like to know? When i was young I had a parasitic twin growing out of my back. He was kind of a pain in the butt but has since been amputated. My dead beat step father took the off cast carcass out on to the carnival circuit and last I knew he was displaying my "brother" as Havlo the half boy. He sends my mom a check every now and then. As a youth growing up I was abducted by rhinestone cowboy aliens. They did all sorts of crazy experiments on me. To this day I still can't look at a can of oysters without shivering. I like chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and have a 4 year old daughter.

What made you decide to sell on etsy? Do you sell anywhere else?

I found etsy and said, "Well, my comics are hand made. What have I got to lose?" I started me store and with in 24 hours I had my first sale. My second sale took a bit longer but I past 500 sales this year. I sell me books at comic conventions as well as etsy. If there are other sites that I could sell my books on, I haven't found them yet.

When did you create your first comic?

First comic I remember drawing was when I was in 2nd grade. I was at my grandfather's house. He had just taken me to see YOG MONSTER FROM SPACE! So naturally I did a book about giant monsters. Since then I've done all sorts of comics about super heroes, a guy whose head falls off and a samurai cat.

Do you have a favorite one you've created?

Not really. People ask me what my favorite comic is that I have created and since I'm very critical of myself and my work it's hard to say if I have a favorite. I guess Little Lost Yeti is one of my favorites right now as well as It Came From The Sea and Then Went Back Again.

What about a favorite comic from another artist?

I don't have one favorite comic I go back to and read over and over. I have several series I like and collect in trade paper backs. The Walking Dead, Fables, Ex Mechina and Daredevil are some favorites right now.

What is your most prized possession?

I don't know. If there was a fire in my house and I was allowed to grab one thing I wouldn't know what it would be. I've got so much crap

Missie - the good, the bad, the ugly

Well, I didn't receive any negative comments for posting about myself on here - so here I go! My name is Missie. I'm 27, a wife, and a mother of 2 beautiful children. I live in Gig Harbor, Washington - one of the most beautiful places on the planet. I work full time at a newspaper doing administrative duties in the Advertising department. I grew up in Minneapolis, but have lived in several states throughout my life. I love to travel and see new places. I have 2 etsy shops, 3 facebook pages, 3 websites, and this blog. I am co-leader of the EtsyMom Team on etsy and an active member in the EtsyBloggers Team and Team etsyRAIN. I love to craft in all sorts of ways. I tend to get semi decent with one craft and then move on to another. I don't excel at any one thing in life - I'd rather enjoy it all. My current craft obsession is paper. I'm learning all sorts of new ways to include paper in my jewelry and how to make cards and bookmarks.

Another reason for me to write about myself here is I want to use my blog as a personal and business goal chart. I need to set goals for myself on a monthly basis, or I will forget about them. Nothing major, but I'm hoping it'll keep me on track. As May is almost done, I'm only going to set 1 business goal: Write at least 3 more times by the end of the month.

So now I need to come up with business goals for June. Here's what I'm proposing:

Get blog set up on my website
Make 1 card per week
Make 1 new listing per week in each shop
Set up both shops to auto renew items through Etsy On Sale

I'd love feedback on what you think about the goals I've set for myself. Do you have suggestions of how I can achieve them? Do you have goals yourself for June? I love comments :) Then again, who with a blog doesn't?!

EtsyBloggers Carnival Post - We Come From a Land Down Under

If you have travelled 'down under' what did you see or do?
Due May 23rd

I have not traveled "down under", but I wanted to write about all of the things I'd love to see in Australia!

First up - one of my favorite things to do is get lost. I know that sounds weird, but I like to lose myself in nature (especially). I don't want to be scared lost, but I love to explore and walk around and see things most people wouldn't (or wouldn't want to) see. Isn't this place gorgeous?!

Obviously, I need to see the typical tourist stuff - so I'd hit up the Sydney Opera House if I went.

Another nature place I'd love to see! Uluru / Ayers Rock! Look at that deep red color. Absolutely stunning!

And let's not forget about history. I'm HUGE into history and human nature. So I'd definitely want to go see the old buildings in Melbourne as well.

The final stop? A zoo. How could you go to Australia and not see a Koala Bear or a Kangaroo? If I don't come across one in the wild (and honestly, I wouldn't want to!), I'd make sure I stopped by a zoo and catch a glimpse :)

Well hello there! I missed Hanson Day last Friday (yes, it's a real holiday - check it out!) and I am kind of bummed. I'll have to post what I planned on posting later on because it was pretty cool. Anyway - I wanted to let you guys know about a pretty cool opportunity. I just signed up to do the Cut.Your.Heart.Out Switch & Swap. Basically, you sign up and get matched up with another participant. You send your stuff out to them and then someone sends you something in return. Chinchilla Sticky Notes / Cinco de Mayo

Have you ever held or pet a chinchilla? They are the most adorable things ever. They are as soft as a bunny, but not nearly as temperamental – from what I have heard. If we were to get a caged pet at home (we currently have 3 cats), it would be a chinchilla! My husband and I have been dreaming of getting one for years. I think we’ll wait until we have fewer cats first. We don’t need any accidental homicides going on. But anyway – until that time comes, I’ll just stick close to this shop and admire all of their furry creations! Vampire Earrings

Today’s feature comes from my own personal “circle” on etsy. A little background on me and when I’m browsing through etsy; every time I see a listing and there’s text behind the item, I read it to see if it’s from something I recognize. I can’t even tell you how giddy I got when I was browsing through this shop and recognized the exact scene from Twilight that this came from (one of my favorites, actually). So then I went through and read the description and I just fell in love with these earrings! They remind me of a necklace I used to have in my shop with similar red drop beads. Dark Red Lip Gloss and Stain

I’ve been thinking lately of giving myself a makeover. I go through this probably once every 3 months. I don’t like to look the same for very long. For example, my profile picture was taken SO long ago (2009) and since then I’ve gained weight, lost weight, grown my hair out, cut it, dyed it black, blonde, brown, and red again…now it’s long and burgundy. I’ve changed my eye makeup, my hairstyle, and my clothes. I’ve changed hobbies. One thing that has never changed is wearing anything OTHER than eye makeup. I just don’t do it. Oh boy - one of my favorite pasttimes! My family is big on reading. Or, rather, I'm big on reading and I've gotten my husband to read a few books. My son can't read yet but LOVES to have us read to him. My daughter is also a little budding reader. I love that our kids took after me a bit in this aspect. They can look like my husband and have my hobbies - that's A-OK with me. I didn't go to the public library a lot when I was growing up as I used my school library for the most part, but when I used to commute to/from work a few years ago, I used to get audiobooks from the library down the street. I would go through a book a week this way! My book list grew so fast, it's hard for me to keep up now that I'm not doing this anymore. Check out my list to see what we both might have read. Or recommend books to me in the comments! I'm always looking for suggestions :)

You know that town by your house that you’ve driven through but never remember how you got there or why you drove through in the first place, but you instantly fall in love? The town this artist is from is THAT town for me. I drove through once and immediately fell in love with the adorable Victorian houses and small town, rural feeling smack dab in the middle of a hugely populated area. There’s this one house with turrets on it. Like a castle! I desperately wanted to stop and take pictures, but we were on our way somewhere and didn’t have time. And now, I don’t know where we were so I can’t figure out how to get back there. This shop, with its old-time feel, fits in perfectly with the town as I remember it. St. Patrick's Day will be our next holiday. Write about any St. Patrick's Day traditions you have or memories... crafts.... food...

HA! Ok, so my favorite memory definitely wasn't on St. Patrick's Day, but in 2009, I went on a cruise called The Rock Boat. It was the 9th year they'd done it, but my first cruise ever. I was going as my favorite band was playing on the cruise. This isn't your normal cruise, mind you. There were like 26 bands on board and thousands of music enthusiasts. It was the craziest thing I've ever done signing up for it with my best friend! Especially when I told my husband (yes, TOLD) that he couldn't go. I don't know what came over me, but I was awfully rude to him about it and I deeply regret that now. But it's in the past. Back to my trip.

So the cruise was in January and each night, while sailing toward Nassau and Half Moon Cay, there was a theme. Everyone went all out on the theme nights. One of the nights was St. Patrick's Day themed. So we donned our green apparel and went out to have a great night. We watched tons of bands, had far too much to drink, and ran into our favorite band while out. The best memory I have was Taylor Hanson giving me and my best friend a hard time for doing shots of Crown Royal (this was taken right after said shots - I'm on the right). To be honest, it was the best tasting shot of anything I'd ever done (not that I drink much). From that moment on, it went downhill.

After getting pictures taken with Taylor, and pictures taken with Zac Hanson, we went to the casino, got more drinks, went to the deck, got more drinks, ended up taking pictures in the glass elevator, went to the dance club, got more drinks, and then went to our friend's cabin. Her roommate was sleeping, so we sat out in the hallway and had a "Pringle Party". Every time someone would walk by, we'd ask if they wanted a Pringle and promptly hold up a can for them to pick from. Some guys joined us. We started to throw the Pringles around. We went to the guys' room and took a picture next to his sleeping roommate. Then my best friend and I stumbled our merry way to our own cabin at about 5:30am or something.

So really, it's not a St. Patty's Day memory, but it kind of is. We were celebrating the holiday without it being the holiday. It was a night I will never forget (even though I drank more that night than I ever had in my life) and I'm so thankful I experienced it!

You know, I don't believe I have any traditions for v-day. Surprising, right? But my favorite childhood memory for this time of year is when we'd get together as a class and make valentines for each other. I loved being creative, even when I was a child. I doubt my drawing skills have improved much - I still love to throw glitter on everything and use big swooping cursive letters - but it's really all about the thought, right? I remember getting a valentine from a "boyfriend" I had in first grade. We were just learning how to read and write in class and he wrote me a cute note and stuck it in my desk. He sat in the same desk as me 1 hour before me. It was so cute! I wish I still had it.

I absolutely love love love shops that are versatile. I love going through a shop and seeing many different items and styles of crafting. Take this shop, for example. I was drawn in by a necklace and then found this blanket in their shop. What a great find! It’s adorable – I love how simple it is but it’s still perfect for any child. This is a great item to keep a small child happy. It can act as a security blanket.

Have you ever noticed a small child playing with a stuffed animal? You may have noticed that they were more interested in the tag than the animal itself.

Tuesday's child. Wrap skirt made from a vintage kitchen towel.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Today’s feature is simple – I searched “Tuesday” and came up with this beautiful little skirt! Don’t let the name fool you, this beauty is for grown women. It has a very country feeling to it, which I absolutely adore! Tuesday's child is full of grace. But you can feel graceful any day of the week is this one-of-a-kind cotton wrap skirt. Pieced together with a quilters aesthetic using new, recycled and vintage linens with blue and white floral patterns, this skirt's hem, edges and pocket are finished with brown and white batik-ed handkerchiefs cut on the bias. The pocket is made from a darling hand-stitched applique and embroidery from a 50's hand towel, featuring a girl doing her ironing. New brown and white polka dot fabric was used on the waist ties and this skirt also has a ruffle around the waist made from an embroidered sheet. This skirt is perfect for so many occasions and is one-size-fits-many so it will change with you throughout your life. This skirt looks great worn at either the natural waist or down around your hips. I also like to wear them as a flowy top.

I received a sharp blow yesterday - I was contacted by etsy regarding copyright infringement on items in one of my shops. Ouch. I'm working with the company who's claiming copyright infringement to correct this issue, but it got me thinking. Of all the shops on etsy, why mine? I try and follow all selling rules. Wow, look who decided to post again?? I think it's time I change up the blog schedule again. Know what I could go for right now? I huge cup of coffee. Given that I’m lazy and don’t want to walk the 2 blocks to Starbucks (it's up a huge hill, ok?), I’m thinking I might need to stock up on some of these babies – what do you think? You will get TWO individually wrapped votives scented in chocolate cappuccino for this listing.

These special votives are a bit bigger than our normal 2 oz votives and have a whipped topping. Each votive is approximately 2.5 oz. We pack them with a strong amount of scent. Each comes standard with 1 cotton core wick.

Each votive will burn for about 15 hours or more if burned in a proper container. Since these do liquify, they should not be burned on a plate, etc that can not hold the fluid. A tight fitting container works best for votives.

Shipping prices aren't always accurate. If any of my estimates are off by $1.00 or more, I will gladly refund the difference.

I'm working on a lot of items right now, to be honest! I have taken many new photographs for Sykin's NW Wonders, designed some new jewelry pieces for there, and designed some jewelry pieces for Sykin's One Stop Twilight Shop. I am always working on something new. Tools are my biggest inspiration right now. I'm all about new techniques. I currently have resin molds filled with dyed resin sitting in my kitchen hardening. I also have designs in my head for cards I need to make using my Cricut machine. I have photographed so many new pieces and rephotographed many old pieces. I can't wait to list everything! I'm trying to get ready for the Black Friday Sale next week. Will I be ready in time? I surely hope so!!!

Lazy Susan

When I first came across this listing, I had no idea what a “Lazy Susan” was. All I could think of was What in the world did Susan do to deserve this title? But then I saw what this thing does and MAN! I NEED ONE! I’d never have to reach across my table or ask someone to pass me the salt, butter, ketchup….whatever. I need one of these bad! I’m telling my husband to add it to my Christmas list!

What a wonderful addition to your kitchen or dining room table. Load it up with napkins, salt and pepper shaker, or various condiments for a functional and convenient way to put everything within reach. The 16” diameter provides for ample space to hold all the necessities.

Consisting of a solid wood top connected to a solid wood base, this lazy susan rides on stainless steel bearings which allow it to spin easily and smoothly. All my lazy susans have the wood type identified on the bottom, as well as signed by me. The top is 3/4” inches thick and the total height is 1 3/4". The top and bottom is finished with an oil-based clear finish and buffed with a furniture wax giving it a very smooth surface which is resistant to spills and scratches.

This one is contains highly figured "tiger stripe" maple which enhances the beauty. The glimmering silver stripes running across the maple, paired with contrasting strips of bloodwood and purpleheart, makes this lazy susan a stunning conversation starter.

Twilight Rosalie Scarf - White - Cafeteria Scene

I know it's been a while since I've blogged and I apologize for it. I'm trying to juggle work, family, friends, 2 etsy shops, and my online world. So far, work, family and friends have taken precedence. I'm sorry you've been so neglected but I hope to change that soon! For now, I bring you October's carnival post for the etsybloggers team.

Tell us about your top 3 favorite horror movies. What is it about them that scares you?

You know, I'm not one for scary movies. I don't like being scared. I love Halloween, dressing up and being someone else for a day, but I don't like some of the scary things about it. I don't go to haunted houses, haunted hayrides, or wild parties. I prefer to bring my kids trick-or-treating or passing out candy to the neighborhood kids. I LOVE to decorate for the holiday. Along with all of this, I usually shy away from scary movies. Especially during this time of year. But there are a few that I have watched over and over because I just love them - usually due to an actor in them *grin*. Here's my list:

1. Pet Cemetery
This movie creeps me right out. Maybe more-so now that I'm an adult given that I can relate to the grief of the parents who lost their child. I can't imagine the lengths I'd go to to be able to be with my child again if I lost them. The scene in the bedroom toward the end of the movie is one of the reasons my heart sometimes skips a beat late at night when I have to crawl into bed and it's deadly silent. *shudder*

2. Rose Red
I won't get into it now, but I have a strange relationship with ghost stories. With that said, Rose Red (based on the Stephen King book) touches on so many of my fears that I can't list them all. To know that it was filmed in Washington also doesn't help because I'm sure I could find out where the filming house is located and live out the horrors for myself. This is another that I watch every time I get a chance, but it scares the daylights out of me every time.

3. Secret Window
This movie is one I will watch over and over and over even though it's gross and scary and brings my inner child to tears. But I can't deny Johnny Depp is a GOD when I watch this movie. He's such a chillingly good actor. The movie is so realistic and crazy. I can't help but watch it repeatedly. Could you imagine if that happened to you?! How would you react??

Another one to mention is "Thirteen Ghosts". I watch it every time it's on TV, but I'm terrified every time. It has a happy ending though. Does that really count as a horror movie?? LOL

My Burning Desire to recycle them into ...art...
and a stool I'd found at a local shop...
came together in one delightfully utilitarian object of Desire!

Part Two:
The Trampolina Glee Telestar Padded Perch.

A homemade stool from years ago.
Rugged and made sturdier by a re-glue.
Sturdy squared legs of wood and rungs.
All adorned with caps held by Brass nails.
On each side, a swag of strung bottle caps... Strung on Copper Wires.

Magic Hat beer has little sayings of wit and witticisms printed inside their bottle caps.
These are used to good advantage all along the rungs.
Hours of fine reading !

The seat is Original Fabric.
Cleaned and painted with Copper colored acrylic paints.
Telestar bursts excite!

*phew* It's been a long couple of weeks which is the reason for the unexpected hiatus. In short, I am starting a new position at work (a promotion) and it is giving me less breaks than I'm used to...good and bad. I used to post my pick during my first break in the morning, but I'm finding that break doesn't happen often much anymore. So there you have it. Anyway - to fix this issue, I am now picking items during the weekend and will schedule posts for them for the entire week! On to our first one :)

Wow – what a great way to start the week! This piece is absolutely breathtaking. Look at how strong the female character is in this beautiful print. The history behind it is very intriguing. It makes me want to know more. What’s better is the artist has so many types of prints to choose from. I chose this one to feature because of the moon in the background (for moon-day Monday) but I really could have featured ANY of the prints and been satisfied. Beautiful work!

Sorry for the lack of posts guys. Work has been crazy! But I know you don't come to listen to me babble so on with today's first post, which is to congratulate the very talented August EtsyBlogger with 3 (yes, 3!) etsy shops. I thought I was busy! I couldn't even imagine running 3 shops! Yeesh! But don't let the amount fool you because the items are still high quality and fantastic ;)

First up is patchfirstshop, which is her jewelry shop. I absolutely love these chic earrings! What's your favorite? I bet you can't pick just one....

Her second shop is a vintage shop at PatchVintageShop. While I'm not much of a vintage shopper, I can appreciate the items chosen to sell. I could easily see the vintage items used for re-purposing! Though I'm sure not everyone would want to change the way the items are :)

As if she's not busy enough, check out her third (and final) shop, PatchSupplyShop! My favorite item posted in the supply shop is the Lotto Papers 4x4. What a unique item to reuse and it's something many people would never think to use as a crafting material. This really shows how resourceful Patch is!

What was your favorite BOOK, MOVIE or GETAWAY SPOT over the summer?

Oh gosh. I don't think I could pick a favorite book, movie or getaway spot from this summer! I guess I'll go with a book theme. I've been hugely engrossed with European royalty lately and I've been reading every book I can get my hands on. A lot of them I've picked up are about Henry VIII, his wives, his children, his ancestors, etc. Basically anything that ties to the Tudor line. But then I kind of switched gears and am now on to other European queens (for the most part). I feel pity for them. Most were fairly innocent (from what I'm reading) or just doing as they were taught. They had to deal with politics in their families, friends, and personal aspects of their lives. I am currently reading "The Devil's Queen: A Novel of Catherine de Medici" by Jeanne Kalogridis. I didn't know much about Catherine de Medici except what I had read in "Sex with Kings: 500 Years of Adultery, Power, Rivalry, and Revenge" by Eleanor Herman. She was a very fascinating woman! I also read "The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette" by Carolly Erickson. She wrote "The Last Wife of Henry VIII: A Novel" which I also really enjoyed this summer. I can't get enough of books about royalty, it seems. The next on my list is another book about Anne Boleyn. That arrived in the library today, so I'll be picking it up tomorrow!

This is a 1/2 POUND AFTER DRIED - What is shown in the Picture is a HALF POUND!!

How this all started: I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids, 2 Girls - 10, 4 and a Boy - 9months..I started making Jerky and few years ago after buying my husband a dehydrator for Christmas. I would make him Jerky to take to work and of course he would let everyone try it. Well it wasn't long before they started asking me to make them some and they would pay me. I figured - what a good idea. I am making it anyways and there eating it for free why not make some money. It is a expensive snack. I winded up saving all my money I made that year and took my family to disney for a week. It became a regular thing making and selling jerky at my husbands work. I decided to sell it in July, 2007 at the local ballpark for Florida Babe Ruth Baseball tournament. I made 125pounds of Jerky that week and was worried I would never sell it all. The tournament started on Thursday and ran to Sunday..I started out slow with selling, but world of mouth traveled fast and I was sold out Friday afternoon..I sold over 500 snack bags at $3.00 a piece. I decide to do it all over in July 2008, making 175pounds of meat and again was sold out Saturday afternoon. I don't think I could ever make enough for that tournament. SO - I have decided to bring my jerky to you!

WONDERING HOW IT'S MADE???

I first start with Bottom Round cut 1/8inch thick and buy this meat from my local store Publix. There good to me and slice it for me. I bring it home and CURE and SEASON this (In my own seasons) and let it marinate for 12 hours at least! I wake up EARLY and start drying this meat, so it can cool and ship SAME DAY it's dried!!

I can promise you my house is clean and I will NEVER cut corners on making this product for you. I will ALWAYS use CLEAN trays, counters, mixing bowls and wear gloves while I package this up!!

Just letting ya know - This is meat from a store, not a animal living in my yard! I can promise you that this will ALWAYS be fresh!! Please allow me 3days to ship this as I do make it as you order it!! Thanks

When I first saw this listing, I didn’t understand the description. Felt? They aren’t real? Seriously, by the above photo, I would’ve bought them and tried to eat them! Don’t they look real and absolutely scrumptious?! Ok, so DON’T eat them and make sure if you get them for your kids, you tell THEM not to eat them. It's Summer time! Tell us about your upcoming or current Summer inspired designs!

This is a little hard for me as I am inspired by things all around me every single day! My latest inspiration for jewelry is swirls and flattened metal. I've been reading a lot about European royalty lately and I can imagine the queens and princesses of that time going around with beautiful silver and gold wrapped earrings with pearls and beautiful stones, along with matching elegant pearl and stone necklaces and bracelets. I've been creating (and perfecting) hand formed and flattened initial charms for necklaces. My photography inspiration is the sky, currently. Have you ever looked up the same part of the sky throughout the day and noticed how many different colors it changes? Then go look at the same part of the sky from a different point of view (from a block down, for instance) and notice the changes then. A blue sky is never just a blue sky.

Inside this Photo or Art Journal are 36 pages that measure 8"X10". It's a good size for featuring big 5x7 photos or for combining various sizes. With a little cropping, the possibilities are endless.

Every other page is white acid free cardstock for adding photos. The facing pages are grid paper for journaling. The albums are just long enough to fit in the highlights and important details, but not so long that you lose steam documenting your memories

I went to the Lavender Festival last weekend and found out how edible the plant was. I love how they look in bloom, but never imagined eating them! Today, I decided to try out the “pounce” feature on etsy. I love to browse through the newest shops that haven’t had a sale yet so I can see what’s coming into the market. Awwww, look at these two cute little shells on the front of this journal! I love them. This would be a perfect vacation or summer journal. I love the colors and the fact that it’s hand painted! Not only does this shop offer custom journals, but they also have photography and guest artists!

A fun and pretty journal with a painted stencil on the cover. A small pocket is added to the inside front cover to hold notes or papers. Book size is 6" x 9"

I start with inspiration for a drawing that would look nice as a silhouette. I then work the drawing and simplify to create the most interesting shape. Then I cut the stencil with a craft knife. I use a ready made acid free blank journal and affix the stencil to the cover. I then hand paint the stencil using foam brush and paint brush to apply the paint. There are a number of layers of painting. The effect of painting will be irregular depending on how the paint is absorbed and dries, so there will be some irregularities as it is an original painting. The book contains 200 acid free blank pages for writing or drawing.
